61st street fishing pier construction

The ACOE plans for the groin look great !!! it will create a level , cleaner , more pleasant walk to the pier.

FEMA has agreed to a 12' elevation but the tackle shop and restrooms will be at 19'

We plan to use the same type of ramp to the pier ... but then there will be stairs (a lift for the handicapped)to get in the tackle shop.

We are at a point where time is of essence... next week we will be working on approval to  get the first 2 pilings in before the ACOE starts work on the groin... as they a putting in 4 to 6  ton boulders out 40 feet from the groin center making it impossible to put our first 2 pilings in place..

We also have to get the ACOE and the county to agree to allow us to place our utilities under the groin.

We have intentions of putting in light poles and trash containers on the groin but there is no designated place space on the ACOE plans ... we will be addressing these issues this week.

The contractor plans to be completed his work by the end of November.

By the time he is finished we should have all of our pilings in and be ready to lay the decking, railings, and tackle shop .

I must not be too smart because it never occured to me that this venture would take the co-ordination of so many agencies to complete this pier.

The reason we are doing it is because we own the pier but it really belongs to the fishermen and women of Galveston.

Now we are looking at a completion date of late winter early spring .

Thanks to all for your encouragement and patience

Listing Site Updates

Under one of these subheadings, it's a good idea to list recent updates to my site so that visitors, especially return visitors, can check out the new stuff first. For example, I could list the date and a brief description of the update.

I could also list updated news about my site's topic. For example, if my site were about a particular sport, I could discuss the outcome of a recent competition.

Notifying Visitors of Site Enhancements

Another idea for my home page's text is notifying visitors about the enhancements I put on my site. For example, I want visitors to sign my guestbook or fill out my survey Form E-mailer to answer questions about my site, my business, or my site's topic.

Customizing and Personalizing My Site

I might not want a large amount of text on my home page if I want to guide visitors toward my other pages. Instead of text, I can add photos or interesting links. One of the first things I would want to do is choose a template that reflects what my site is all about. Colors and themes are a great way to reinforce the message and purpose of my site.

Behind the Scenes of My Home Page

Even if I don't put much text on my home page, it's a good idea to include hidden tools that will help me promote my site, so people other than my friends and family actually see it. For example, I could add meta tags, which are hidden codes that allow search engines to find my site. I could also install stats and a counter so I know how many people are visiting. If not many are visiting, submitting my site to search engines will guide more traffic to my site.
