The ACOE plans for the groin look great !!! It will create a cleaner , pleasant , level walk to the pier.
FEMA has agreed to building the pier at 12 feet above mean high tide .. the give up here is that the tackle shop and bathrooms will be at 19 foot level ..
We plan to have the same old style ramp to the pier but to access the pier you must take a set of stairs (7 to 8 feet up ) at the end of the ramp.
Handicapped people will have a lift (elevator ) to access the upper floor bath and tackle shop.
We are at the point where time is of essence... next week we will be working on getting the first 2 pilings in before the ACOE starts the groin... as they are putting in 4 to 6 ton boulders that will be impossible to move or bore through.
We also have to get the ACOE and the County to agree to let us put our utilities under the groin as it will be very unsightly to construct a new chase .
